Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
(Everything is happening)
Something out there
In the atmosphere
But it's not clear
Check 1, 2, come thru
Can you not hear
Your locale
Has been known for a while
We caught your frequency
And recognize your style
(Being of the particular race you are)
We hear some talk about the black hole
But that mystery is just a fissure yo
A crack in your soul
Now lean in seeking, heeding
No warnings or cautions
Up posted by the non-believing
Inner space, outer space
(Galactic realm of eternal black darkness)
It's just a grand chasm in your car-case
Carcass disposable
Ripen then recycle
In the the meantime
Spread ya ears wide, get a eye full
Meanwhile I'll pull
All records on file
At the intergalactic agency and school
Seems you can fly already
Now the only thing to do
Is just know
And glide steady
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
I'm everything and nothing
How long have you been doing nothing?
You must be an expert at it
Space is not only high
It's low
It's the bottomless pit
It's never ending
Space is the place
(It's never ending)
Space is the place
Space is the place
(Space)
Space is the place
(Space)
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place
Space is the place, oh
Space is the place
I've checked your file
Seems you can fly already
Now all you need to do is know
And hold steady
(Space is not only high)
Something out there
In the atmosphere
But it’s not clear

about
Many artists like Ezra Collective and Thomas de Pourquery already paid tribute to Sun Ra’s mythical anthem “Space Is The Place”. It’s time for French producer Zerolex and his trio to bring their stone to the cosmic edifice with “Hold Steady”, a wild audio trip progressing from laid back and lyrical hip-hop into a noisy soundscape of African percussions and free-oriented jazztronica.
Who else could do a better job than Cincinnati-based rapper Napoleon Maddox at telling this epic tale with Saturnian accents? An obvious collaboration for the rapper, as shows his activism as an African-American artist and his proximity with the trio in Besançon, his city of adoption.
The second guest on this release is Brussels-based composer and producer Marc Melià, who shares with Zerolex a strong passion for the Prophet synthesizer, and whose taste for spatial exploration is irrefutable. Marc offers a more ethereal vision of the track, with synthesizers calmly flowing into a delicate tension.
